Coming to SHUT DOWN DRONE WARFARE (SDDW)
Spring 2023?
Please REGISTER HERE asap, even if your plans are tentative. This helps the SDDW Organizing Team better able to plan. We welcome people to travel to Alamogordo/El Paso via plane, train/bus, and car, and encourage carpooling/ride shares whenever possible.
TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE:
We are offering limited transportation assistance.
We cannot guarantee rides from your home community, but will offer an opportunity to connect people who are offering rides with those who need rides from the same community. Details coming soon. A TRANSPORTION FORM will be sent to all registrants by mid-late March to help coordinate transportation assistance.
For those flying, El Paso International Airport (ELP) is the closest. (85 miles to Alamogordo, and 80 miles to Oliver Lee State Park Campground). Alamo Shuttle operates three shuttles a day between ELP and the Holloman AFB/Alamogordo area at $94 round trip. Depending on the number of attendees flying/busing/training to El Paso, we will also be offering rides from El Paso Airport & bus station to Camp Justice & Alamogordo motels, on a limited basis, to include return trip to El Paso at end of week. Details will be worked out as attendance figures develop.
Note: We are looking for people who can be responsible for rental van pick-up and driving upon arrival and throughout the week. Reimbursement for van rental costs will be provided.
FMI: Please contact Ken Mayers, Transportation Coordinator: kenmayers@vfp-santafe.org
COVID Precautions: We encourage participants to wear masks while carpooling/ridesharing. However, since the pandemic is waning, we ask everyone to be responsible for their own safety needs, while also showing respect to the needs of those they are riding with.
HOUSING/CAMPING ACCOMMODATIONS Options:
We urge folks to stay at Camp Justice, where most of our activities during the mid-day and evening will occur, and where all meals will be served.
Alamogordo Motels and Air BnB's:
Alamogordo is 12 miles north of Camp Justice and 10-12 miles east of Holloman AFB. For those who are unable to camp, here are some affordable motels and Air BnB's that also offer weekly rate discounts. Air BnB's are probably the most affordable, if you can coordinate with others to share the multi-bedroom housing together.
